Nerja weather, know what to bring with you.

How Nerja Weather affects the local agriculture industry

Because of the temperate climate enjoyed by Nerja Weather throughout the year, the land in and around Nerja is very fertile and produces a great variety of crops. In more recent times, sugar cane production has been replaced by more expensive cash crops, particularly semi-tropical fruits such as mango and papaya and extensive avocado plantations in what is one of the major avocado growing regions in Spain thanks to the benefits of  Nerja’s Weather.

The remains of the once thriving beautiful sugar cane factory still stands just outside Nerja in the eastern town, but is now just an empty derelict building. When Nerja weather is good you can take a stroll passed the lovely old building up the countryside behind Nerja.

Who enjoys the Nerja Weather?

Nerja weather is enjoyed by its official population of around 22,000, about 30% of  which are foreign residents, including around 2,600 British although the true number of expatriate residents is probably around twice that. It is easy to understand why so many British come here to get away from the cold UK and take advantage of the sunny Nerja Weather.

In the summer months, when Nerja Weather is at its sunniest and hotest, tourism swells the population many times more.

Nerja is the eastern-most town in the region known as the Axarquia.

What can you do to enjoy the Nerja Weather?

One of my favourite things to do when the weather is fine is a river walk in the Nerja river (Rio) Chillar. However be sure to check the Nerja weather before you go because if it’s been raining a lot (maybe just up in the mountains and not in town)  much of the river is unpassable.

But if the Nerja weather and surrounds has been fine, it’s a beautiful walk. and if you have a dog, or maybe borrow one :) it’s a lovely day out, taking about 1 hour to get to an area you can have a relaxing picnic.

How you can protect yourself from the extremes of Nerja Weather?

Generally Nerja weather is predictable with blue skies and sunshine pretty much guaranteed throughout May to October (6 months). During this period of hot Nerja weather be sure to put on plenty of sun protection. From mid October to April, you’ll need a warm sweater or jacket in the evening. If you’ve come unprepared, you can always pop to the El Ingenio shopping center on the Autovia (3 junctions west from Nerja) and pick up some wet weather gear in the variety of shops there to keep you warm and dry during the wet Nerja weather period.

When is Nerja Weather at its best?

Well, Nerja weather is at it’s hottest in August, but not everyone agrees that is the best time. In fact my favourite time of year is November through to Christmas. The days are generally warm, the nights crisp and chilly. Not UK chilly but cardigan time none the less.

When is Nerja Weather at its worst?

The weather in Nerja during February and March can sometimes get pretty miserable, a lot of rain and wind. but here again the Nerja weather has generally more good sunny days than bad and pretty much always better than the UK or northern Europe.

Why does Nerja Weather stay so temperate all the year round?

We’re not far from Africa, for a start!…..the airflows coming from the Sub Sahara continent to the south of Spain keep air warm and the mountain ranges to the north keep the clouds away much of the time.

When the Nerja weather is not so great head to Nerja town and enjoy a tapas and drink on the Balcon de Europa watching the world go by.

Nerja Weather, it’s not always sunny (just mostly)

Nerja weather,
yes it rains sometimes too….

Be sure to carry an umbrella if it looks like rainy Nerja weather
because when it rains it tends to rain heavily though thankfully it doesn’t happen too often or for too long. :-)
